Gimp - is an image manipulation program that allows you to create and edit images in several formats
How we use it: for editing (resizing, cropping, changing colours, etc.) images to be published on a website.
XNView - is an efficient multimedia viewer, browser and converter.
How we use it: for viewing and converting images.
IrfanView - super small program with lots of extensions that allows for simple image modifications, but has additional features including: screen capture option, image converter, playing movies and sounds, etc. It is also available in several languages.
How we use it: for quick view of the image, cropping and image resizing, screen capture tool.
